Former Tottenham manager urges Man Utd to sign Harry Kane

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has urged Manchester United to sign Harry Kane this summer amid the striker’s wish to leave his boyhood club.

Kane, who has attracted interest from Manchester City, has three years remaining on his contract at Tottenham but made headlines earlier this week after failing to report into training.

The 28-year-old has strongly been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past but a move has never materialised, with the England forward instead signing a six-year contract at his club in 2018.

Since then, surroundings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are growing more unrecognizable, with the club appointing their third manager in as many seasons earlier this summer.

Harry Redknapp, who spent four years at the club from 2008 to 2012, has now urged Manchester United to pip Manchester City to Kane, arguing that bringing the striker in could prove to be the deciding factor in this year’s title race.

“If I was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, I would definitely try and nick Harry because, for sure, that would make all the difference,” Redknapp is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

“What a message that would send out if United could take him off City. That would give them a real chance of being champions.

“I know it’s a massive investment, but that’s one which would be worth the money because Harry guarantees you 20-odd goals a season. United are putting a squad together.

“You look at their team, they have just signed Raphael Varane, they already have Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw has come back after a great Euros, Bruno Fernandes is there – they are looking a team.

“Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford, bags of pace. Jadon Sancho has come in, so they could be a team who could be up there pushing. And if they got Harry Kane, they would be very close.”
