Manchester United target open to Premier League switch after making England U21 debut

England U21 international Djed Spence has confirmed he wants a Premier League move, with Manchester United reportedly interested in the right-back, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest on loan.

Just like Manchester United loanee James Garner, Spence has impressed at the City Ground this season, but he is contracted to Middlesbrough until 2024.

However, Middlesbrough face a problem and may decide to cash in this summer because they’ve already developed Isiah Jones and he’s been one of their best players this season. They plucked Spence from the Fulham academy in 2018 and now look set to bank a healthy profit from selling him this summer.

Spence made his England U21 debut against Albania on Tuesday night and described the call up a “big step forward” in his career.

He said (via The Mirror): “I always want to push myself and play with the best players and best them. Of course it’s an ambition of mine to play in the Premier League. I try to stay level-headed. I don’t read too much into it. At the end of the day, I’m just here to enjoy my football. I need to stay focused, have tunnel vision and play well on the pitch.”

The young English right-back is believed to be attracting interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and German giants Bayern Munich – with a £20m valuation being touted by the report in question.

United definitely need to improve at right-back, so it makes sense that Spence is one of the players being washed by the club. Aaron Wan-Bissaka becomes an ordinary player whenever he reaches the final third, whereas Diogo Dalot does not fill me with confidence.
