Man United considering move to sign Serie A star

The January transfer window is only days away and naturally, Manchester United are being linked with a host of players as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen the squad.

The Dutchman’s first summer in charge of the side saw United spend more money than they have ever done before in a single transfer window and according to reports, the former Ajax manager is still keen on adding to his roster.

The priority over the summer was to reinforce the midfield and Ten Hag succeeded in that area, with both Christian Eriksen and Casemiro completely exceeding expectations so far.

He also made a point out of signing Lisandro Martinez, who has immediately become a fan-favourite at Old Trafford. The Argentina international is the first-choice centre-back alongside Raphael Varane and the pair seem to have forged an unbreakable bond.

United’s two back-up defenders, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire, have quickly dropped down the pecking order and now, Serie A superstar Kim Min-jae is being linked with a move to Old Trafford.

According to Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, United are joined by Liverpool as teams that are considering moves to buy Kim out of his contract at Napoli. The South Korea international has taken Serie A by storm this season after replacing Kalidou Koulibaly.

Any potential move for Kim is, however, not expected to be made in January and is instead presented as a possible reinforcement further down the line.

As per the report, Kim has a release clause in his contract but the option is only available for the first fortnight in July, which makes a transfer tricky.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that Kim is enjoying life at Napoli and that the defender’s release clause is still rather hefty, with figures ranging anywhere between €50m and €80m.
