Manchester United predicted line-up vs Crystal Palace – Wout Weghorst to make debut

Crystal Palace host Manchester United this evening in an 8pm kick-off at Selhurst Park.

The Red Devils are looking to pick up their 10th consecutive win for the first time since 2009. Three points can send them into second place in the Premier League table, leapfrogging Manchester City to move to within six points of leaders Arsenal, as well as a whopping eight points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

United are on the back of an emphatic 2-1 victory in the Manchester derby, which means they have overseen just one loss in 19 matches – form that has some Reds dreaming of a title charge in the second half of the season!

On the other hand, Palace suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend and Patrick Vieira will be keen to bounce back with a midweek win.

Team news & predicted line-up

Full United and Palace team news can be found here. It includes Anthony Martial’s likelihood of playing.

De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Rashford; Weghorst.

Casemiro is one yellow card away from facing a suspension, meaning if he is carded tonight, he is ruled out of the forthcoming fixture against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday. However, the Brazilian has been absolutely crucial in United’s recent wins and we can’t risk dropping points against Palace. He is experienced enough to be able to see out the game on his best behaviour.

I think Wout Weghorst will start due to Martial’s ongoing fitness issues. It also gives him a chance to make his debut in a game that is not as high-pressure as the Arsenal match. Hopefully, he hits the ground running and nets in his first outing.

Lisandro Martinez should realistically return to the starting 11 and get minutes in the tank before the weekend, unless Ten Hag opts for Shaw at centre-back again given his faultless performances in the position.
