Manchester United express interest in signing Italy international

Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus’ Federico Chiesa but could face interest from rivals Liverpool.

That is according to Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, which confirmed the Red Devils are monitoring the situation of the 25-year-old, along with their Merseyside rivals.

Chiesa was instrumental to Italy’s Euro 2020 success which saw them lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium after a dominant campaign.

He played for Serie A side Fiorentina from 2016-2022 and ended his career by spending the final two seasons on loan at Juventus, before making his move permanent last summer.

Reds could capitalise on Juventus’ issues

His contract with the club is set to expire in 2025, however, their off-the-field issues that has seen them be deducted 15 points due to financial irregularities and false accounting over past transfer dealings could force players into wanting a more imminent departure, especially now that Champions League football is likely off the table for next season.

Juventus would reportedly demand a fee of around £88 million, though they could lower their asking price in the summer when Erik ten Hag is more likely to pursue Chiesa.
