Preview: Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest | Carabao Cup semi-final second leg

Manchester United will be looking to book a place in the League Cup final when they take on Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The Reds go into the game leading 3-0 on aggregate from the first leg knowing that barring a catastrophe, United should be going through to the final at Wembley on February 26th.

Erik ten Hag is widely expected to make a number of changes to his starting eleven to face Nottingham Forest with Tom Heaton, Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga all likely to start.

The League Cup may not be necessarily have been top of every Reds fans wish list this season but it arguably now represents United’s best chance of winning a trophy this season. With one foot already in the final, United have a great chance of winning the competition this season and having not won a trophy for almost six years now it would be great to finally see the Reds win some silverware.

Nottingham Forest themselves have endured a mixed season on their return to the Premier League this season and currently find themselves in 13th place. Forest form had picked up since returning from the world cup, but by losing 3-0 last week it would now take something of a miracle to turn this one around and given United’s impressive home form this season you would expect nothing else than a United victory on Wednesday night.

It won’t be easy and you would expect Forest to make much more of a game of it than last time but despite that this is a game I expect United to win albeit it may be a much closer contest than it was at the City Ground last week.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Nottingham Forest
