Transfer deadline day: Glazers reluctant to let Ten Hag spend before potential sale

I had low expectations going into the January transfer window this year. The reason stemming from how the Glazers have put Manchester United in a desperate financial state as well as their plans to sell the club.

Erik ten Hag must hope that the takeover goes to plan and is completed by the end of the season. Otherwise, we will all be going into the summer transfer window with the same state of mind.

The loan signings of Jack Butland and, more so, Wout Weghorst has given the squad something it lacked. The Dutch striker is a constant presence up front and I suspect he will be adding goals to his tally very soon. Butland joined because Newcastle recalled Martin Dubravka from his loan spell.

Perhaps the greatest bit of joy we’ll feel this month will come when the clock strikes 23:00 GMT because it should be the final transfer window under Glazer ownership.

That in itself is victory. I really don’t think signing a midfielder in January brings the same level of satisfaction as getting rid of the Glazers.

If ran properly – by fit owners – Manchester United would be looking for an opportunity in the market to reinforce United’s midfield ranks.

Fans will hope United can start to run itself like a astute elite club under new owners.

Ultimately, the damage caused throughout their 17-year ownership has prevented Ten Hag adding long-term additions to his squad this month. The manager deserves funds to spend when you consider how United are still the only English club left in all four major competitions.

It’s a completely different story at Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. All of those clubs have sanctioned big-money transfers this month.

  1. The glaziers are blood suckers and leave a family legacy of making a fortune through greed and unbelievable selfishness.
Anyone in Britain and knows sport fairness will hate them and wish them nothing but misery
