Mason Greenwood speaks out for the first time since having criminal charges dropped

Mason Greenwood has spoken out for the first time since having all criminal charges against him dropped.

The 21-year-old had been the subject of an investigation over the past year and had been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in October 2022.

Today, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that criminal proceedings have been discontinued by Crown Prosecution Service, meaning that Greenwood had been cleared of all charges.

Manchester United, who suspended the forward after the initial arrest, issued an update stating that they would begin their own internal investigation into how the allegations against Greenwood ended up being made before announcing any further steps taken regarding his future at the club. He will not return to training until this process has been completed.

He was also dropped by sponsor Nike and removed from FIFA gameplay last year.

Mason Greenwood’s statement
