Mason Greenwood’s England career over as long as Gareth Southgate is manager

Mason Greenwood can forget about representing England for however long Gareth Southgate remains in charge, a report claims.

It is understood that Mason Greenwood has already rejected a switch to Jamaica, which means his options could be limited.

The Sun claims Greenwood will never again be selected for England by Gareth Southgate. It is believed that the pair have fallen out but the forward has not given up on his Three Lions career.

The 21-year-old is waiting on a decision from Manchester United’s internal investigation into the allegations made against him.

Greenwood had all charges dropped but they involved attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

A source told The Sun: “He is clinging to the hope of playing again at the highest level.

“But Southgate places a great deal of importance on not only a player’s talent, but how the squad gels.”

It remains to be seen what route United will take with their decision.
