Erik ten Hag was rightly critical of the Premier League officials after Casemiro was sent on his marching orders after the half hour mark for a tackle on Carlos Alvaraz.
Southampton manager Ruben Selles was diplomatic after the match, though, and suggested it was a waste of time talking about the officials when asked about Casemiro’s red card for United on Sunday.
Maybe from his perspective, being a bottom of the table side getting a point at Old Trafford… but it’s a different story for us. He seems completely unaware of that.
VAR intervened and it was a big turning point in the match — giving Southampton a lucky lifeline.
Speaking to Hampshire Live after the match, Selles said: “I got a look at it but I don’t want to speak about the referee’s performance.
“I think it’s a waste of time. The referee makes a decision, sometimes it goes for you and sometimes it doesn’t, that’s it.”

I watch 6-8 premier league matches every week and Champions league, etc. That was the most horrible referee job I’ve ever seen. CLEARLY a handball on SH (most obvious HB i’ve seen in years). AFTER watching the VAR of Cassimiros tackle, I actually expectected the ref to withdraw the yellow card!! He clearly hit the ball first and his foot moved up the ball and struck the other player….INTENT?? Even worse, a SH player made a similar tackle close to our goal and ref called nothing. Who investigates ref complaints? Dont let this die
