Preview: Real Betis vs Manchester United | last-16 second leg

Manchester United will be looking to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League when they take on Real Betis in the second leg of the last 16 tie on Thursday night.

The Reds go into the game leading 4-1 on aggregate from the first leg at Old Trafford last week knowing that baring a catastrophic defeat the Reds should be progressing to the quarter finals.

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is likely to start against Betis as his suspension only applies to domestic games whilst Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay could also feature.

With one trophy already in the bag and a top four spot looking likely its fair to say its been a successful season so far for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United. At the start of the season, if someone offered Ten Hag a top four spot and winning some silverware he would have taken it with both hands and in facing Real Betis it provides the Reds a perfect opportunity to progress the quarter finals.

The Europa League may not have been necessarily been top of everyone’s wish list this season but with the quarter finals now in sight it brings with it another chance to win more silverware and in doing so would also guarantee United a spot in next seasons Champions League.

Having beaten Betis 4-1 in the first leg the United are in a fantastic position to qualify to the quarter finals. The result was made even more impressive given Betis impressive form this season in La Liga and although it wont be easy you would still expect United to progress to the next round albeit it may not be as comfortable as last week.

Prediction: Real Betis 1-1 Manchester United
