Maguire 7, Fernandes 8: player ratings from Manchester United 3-1 Fulham

Manchester United are through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup after an intense affair against Fulham at Old Trafford, with a remarkable second-half incident resulting in three red cards for the visitors.

Fulham had taken the lead earlier in the second half but after Willian blocked Jadon Sancho’s shot with his hand on the goal line, madness ensued at the Theatre of Dreams.

Aleksandr Mitrovic’s aggressive response to the decision earned him a red card, whilst manager Marco Silva was also handed his marching orders in a crazy couple of minutes.

With the visitors down to nine men, United went into fifth gear and turned the game around in less than two minutes before Bruno Fernandes secured the 3-1 scoreline in added time.

It was hard work for United but they will now be returning to Wembley later this season, with a semi-final tie against Brighton & Hove Albion awaiting the Reds.

Man United Player Ratings

David de Gea – 8
Could do nothing about the goal but he performed one stunning sav in the second half which was absolutely pivotal at that point in the game.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6
An alright performance from the full-back, who now seems to be Erik ten Hag’s first choice.

Harry Maguire – 7
Back-to-back starts for the first time since the first two games of the season and he put in another good performance.

Lisandro Martinez – 8
Up against Mitrovic for the majority of the game and the main takeaway is that size really does not matter. Martinez dominated the game.

Luke Shaw – 6
Got the vital assist for the winning goal. He would be getting more of those if he overlapped more but it’s increasingly clear that Ten Hag prefers him to stay on the edge of the box.

Marcel Sabitzer – 8
Fantastic moment for him to get his first goal for the club. Good performance.

Scott McTominay – 5
Struggled for most of the game with his decision-making and passing.

Jadon Sancho – 7
It was his initiative that, ultimately, completely changes the landscape and got United their win. That moment alone should give him a lot of confidence.

Bruno Fernandes – 8
Ten Hag has hailed him as one of the side’s leaders throughout the season and he continues to be trusted in every single game. Two goals to boot this afternoon.

Marcus Rashford – 6
He didn’t get his customary goal this time but almost opened the scoring in the first half.

Wout Weghorst – 6
Continues his run of starting every game since he joined the club. Clearly one of the players Ten Hag trusts the most.
