(Video) Luke Shaw sent off vs Italy after two yellow cards in quick succession

Luke Shaw has been given his marching orders in tonight’s meeting between England and Italy in the opening round of fixtures of the qualifiers for next year’s European Championship in Germany.

Shaw started alongside Harry Maguire in the England defence and Gareth Southgate’s went into half-time with a comfortable two-goal lead.

That would all change quickly in the second half, however, with Italy pulling one back before grabbing a stranglehold of the game.

Shaw received his first yellow card for time wasting in the 78th minute (England’s third yellow card for that offence) and his second just two minutes later, as seen below.

Despite VAR not being in use to brandish yellow cards, it took the referee over one minute to give the yellow card in what appeared to be a turbulent situation.
