There were delays when it came to the round of second offers for Manchester United this week. The latest update suggests Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani has followed Sir Jim Ratcliffe by making a revised bid to buy the world’s biggest football.
Both parties are considered the leading contenders to takeover Manchester United and replace the Glazer family, however, there’s also a Finnish entrepreneur trying to make noise in the background. As we explained in our editorial this morning, anything Thomas Zilliacus says about the matter should be taken with a pinch of salt.
The latest from The Athletic is that Sheikh Jassim has joined rival bidders by making a second offer for the club.
It is believed that the initial bids from Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe were not thought to have surprised £5 billion for United. Since then, delegations have been sent for meetings to Old Trafford, with Ratcliffe going out of his way to actually show up.
The Daily Mail adds that Sheikh Jassim’s second bid arrived late on Friday night. The report adds that the finer details were being ironed out.
Mike Keegan reports: “Those close to the process insist that the Glazer family, who own United, have set a price for the club. However, there remains concern that they will seek an unrealistic sum north of £6bn.”
Sheikh Jassim improved second bid for Man United described as highly competitive and will remove all debt from the club. Glazers want at least £6bn. Qatar bid also said to be considered and rational. Highest first round bids were around £4.5bn

There is still no guarantee that the Glazers will sell, but everyone must be aware that they are trying to push for the biggest offer they can get here. After all, it’s by far the biggest asset owned by the leeches.
