Manchester United duo start for Portugal in EURO qualifier vs Luxembourg

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have been named in the starting line-up for Portugal’s EURO 2024 qualifying clash with Luxembourg.

The two Red Devils have become established members of their national teams, having both been called up to the World Cup last year.

Fernandes is an irreplaceable key in Portugal’s midfield, as with United, whilst Dalot faces competition from Manchester City loanee Joao Cancelo in the right-back position.

He has been given the nod this evening though and will line up in front of former Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

In the middle of the pitch alongside Fernandes is Fulham’s Joao Palinha, with Chelsea’s Joao Felix and City’s Bernardo Silva deployed in attack. Former United forward Cristiano Ronaldo leads the line.

Reds on international duty

It is Portugal’s final game of this international break, so hopefully, both Reds return to Old Trafford fully fit and ready to kick on with the business end of the season.

United’s next game is against Newcastle on April 2.
