Rangers close in on deal for Jack Butland after Manchester United loan

Jack Butland looks set to join Rangers in the summer.

According to The Scottish Sun, the Manchester United loanee is likely to become Michael Beale’s first signing of the summer, in a transfer that will see him leave Crystal Palace.

The Scottish Premier League club were allegedly linked with Butland last year, but a deal never materialised and the former England No.1 joined United on loan in January.

It’s unlikely that Butland will get a new deal at Palace or United, so he is bound to be seeking assurances for his future before the end of the season.

Butland, who was on the bench for United’s FA Cup win over Brighton at Wembley on Sunday, has only become second choice since Tom Heaton’s injury.

United are set to see some changes in the goalkeeper department next season with Butland and Dean Henderson set to leave. There are still question marks over David de Gea’s deal that need answering.

The Palace goalkeeper hasn’t made any real impact at United and was only brought in as cover following Martin Dubravka’s premature departure.
