United are ready to rival Liverpool with £55m bid for wantaway Chelsea star

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Chelsea’s Mason Mount this summer.

That’s according to Daily Mail, which suggests that the Red Devils are readying a £55 million bid for the midfielder who is set to leave Stamford Bridge in the forthcoming transfer window.

The 24-year-old is about to enter the final year of his current contract and seemingly has no desire to extend his stay with his boyhood club, so Chelsea will be keen to get a fee they deem worthy for their academy graduate. The board are believed to value Mount at £85 million.

United will, however, face competition from rivals Liverpool and Arsenal in pursuit of Mount. Jurgen Klopp is preparing for a crucial midfield rebuild whilst Mikel Arteta is wanting to bolster his squad ready for their return to the Champions League.

This season, the England international has made 35 appearances, scoring three goals and assisting a further six. His campaign was cut short after sustaining a pelvic injury.

  1. As a Liverpool fan, I’d be chuffed if Utd did that. Please do it, would spare us the trouble of splurging an obscene amount of a past it player.
