Manchester United add Empoli goalkeeper to transfer list

Manchester United have been linked with a host of goalkeepers this summer.

It is believed Erik ten Hag will look to sign a new goalkeeper to provide more competition for David de Gea, who has yet to announce his new contract extension to remain at the club.

It beggars belief that De Gea could be our second choice goalkeeper next season, as one of the highest earning keepers in the world, but this is Manchester United and sometimes these things make little sense.

Over the past few months, there have been a few goalkeepers linked with a move to Old Trafford. None more than FC Porto’s Diogo Costa but it would be a big ask to expect him to join before the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

The latest goalkeeper to be added to United’s transfer list is Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario, as per Gazzetta dello Sport, as per Sport Witness.

A report suggests Vicario is a target for Inter Milan if they sell Andre Onana, who joined the Italian side after playing under Erik ten Hag at Ajax last season.

But the big line, as far as we’re concerned, is that United have taken an interest in the 26-year-old.

Vicario kept seven clean sheets for Empoli this season – conceding 38 goals in 30 league games.
