Ancelotti asks Real Madrid board to sign Harry Kane amid Manchester United interest

Real Madrid are seemingly joining the race for Harry Kane, along with Manchester  United.

Real have faced uncertainty over Karim Benzema’s future in recent days, with the Frenchman reportedly mulling over a lucrative proposal from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

Because of this, panic mode has kicked in in Madrid at the prospect of losing one of the most prolific strikers in world football, and Carlo Ancelotti has set his sights on a younger alternative in the form of Kane.

The report from The Athletic reads: “Madrid have actively begun searching for a new striker. The topic was discussed at the same senior leadership meeting on Thursday and several plans were advanced.

“According to sources familiar with what was discussed, Ancelotti asked for Harry Kane and the board told him that they would try to achieve this signing, although the difficulties involved were highlighted.”

United’s pursuit of Kane

United have concrete interest in the England captain, who is both his national team’s and Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time top goalscorer.

Erik ten Hag has taken similar steps to Ancelotti himself, as he has asked the club’s board to “show ambition” whilst pursuing Kane.

He also wants summer transfer deals wrapped up early, so it’s likely that Daniel Levy will have a few messages in his inbox regarding Spurs’ star man.
