Manchester United plan to rival Arsenal and Chelsea in race for £70m-valued midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo.

That’s according to The Telegraph, which confirms the Red Devils will join fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for the Ecuadorian’s signature.

Brighton will demand a fee in excess of £70 million to sanction the exit of the sought-after 21-year-old.

Caicedo has received plaudits across the campaign for his stellar performances at the heart of the Seagulls’ midfield.

In January, both Arsenal and Chelsea lodged bids for Caicedo but saw them swiftly rejected, with the former making an offer worth £70 million.

Brighton prepared to oversee summer exits

However, Brighton were keen to keep their talents until the end of the 2022/2023 campaign and after securing European football for the first time in their history, they are now prepared to oversee numerous departures, hence Alexis Mac Allister’s looming transfer to Liverpool.

One factor that may swing the race in the Blues’ favour is that Brighton are in active pursuit of defender Levi Colwill, who spent the term on loan at the Amex from Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea may opt to use the 20-year-old in a part-exchange deal for Caicedo.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag is already making moves on the transfer market after it was reported that Mason Mount had agreed personal terms to join United.
