Manchester United close in on surprise move for 25 y/o French defender

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a move for Monaco defender Axel Disasi.

That’s according to L’Equipe, which states that the 25-year-old has decided to join the Red Devils amid a rumoured move to the Premier League.

United will now begin negotiations with the Ligue 1 side over a potential fee, as well as personal terms with the player.

Monaco are looking to receive a fee around the €40 to €50 million mark, which Erik ten Hag’s hierarchy is willing to pay.

Disasi’s season at a glance

Disasi made 49 appearances across the 2022/2023 campaign in all competitions, scoring six and assisting four goals.

He made his France debut at the 2022 World Cup when he was called up by Didier Deschamps to replace the injured Presnel Kimpembe.

United have also been heavily linked with Napoli’s Kim Min-jae so it remains to be seen whether the club will continue their pursuit should the Disasi deal materialise.
