Manchester United face competition from European giants in pursuit of centre-back

Manchester United will now face competition from Bayern Munich in their pursuit of Kim Min-jae.

The Napoli centre-back is a real subject of interest this summer and has been linked with the Red Devils for several weeks, though a bid is yet to be submitted.

Min-jae has a release clause included in his current deal which is believed to be in the region of £45 million. However, it can only be activated from July 1 until July 15, hence why clubs are trying to do the groundwork for a potential transfer now.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports, the Bundesliga giants are aware of United’s interest and could pursue the defender themselves.

Min-jae’s time in Naples was a resounding success

The South Korean was a stalwart for Napoli across the 2022/2023 campaign and played a pivotal role in ending their 33-year wait for the Scudetto, as he lifted the Serie A trophy in his first season in Italy.

He is renowned for his speed, aerial dominance, strength and on-the-ball qualities.
