Real Betis keen on Manchester United defender destined for a new club

Manchester United need to sell players this summer so we can expect a number of players to get the chop.

One of them should be Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly. His spell on loan at Marseille has done nothing to inflate his value in the market, and Erik ten Hag has already decided that he is surplus to requirements.

Marseille had an option to buy Bailly at the end of the season, but they decided not to trigger that clause.

It turns out that Bailly could still have options in one of the top leagues Europe has to offer, with La Liga outfit Real Betis reportedly expressing an interest in the United centre-back.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Betis have closely followed Bailly since his time at RCD Espanyol. The sporting director worked as a technical secretary during Bailly’s time in Catalonia and wants to bring him back to Spain.

United are not going to stand in Betis’ way of acquiring Bailly, should they meet our demands over his valuation, which should be a lot lower than the €38m we spent to sign him from Villarreal.

At 29, I think we can safely say that it is time for all parties to go their separate ways.

Bailly had a brilliant first season at United but the rest of his spell at the club was clouded by injuries.

United also need to find clubs for players like Harry Maguire in this transfer window.
