Manchester United open to selling first-team midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly open to the idea of selling Brazilian midfielder Fred.

That’s according to a recent report from the Manchester Evening News, who claim the Red Devils could sanction a move for the 30-year-old midfielder amid interest from Premier League rivals Fulham.

Despite initially arriving at Old Trafford in 2018 with high expectations, the South American has failed to consistently impress and establish himself as a key figure in United’s midfield.

Now with just one year left on his contract, this summer’s transfer window will present Erik Ten Hag with arguably his last chance to recoup a decent fee for the number 17.

As for Fulham, with Marco Silva keen to reinforce his squad in time for next season as the Cottagers aim to better their 10th-placed finish last time out, a move for Fred would certainly be viewed as a good signing. A switch to London would also present the South American with a new, and perhaps welcomed, challenge.
