Manchester United ready to sell two players who did not return for pre-season training

Manchester United are in for a busy summer on the transfer market and although the club has made just one signing so far and sold as many players, it’s expected that many will follow on both fronts.

Erik ten Hag is keen on continuing his widespread revolution of the squad, having overseen the exit of 10 first-team players in his first summer.

Since then, he has signed nine players albeit several were on short-term loans. Some of the signings have, however, meant that some players signed by previous managers are now surplus to requirements.

United returned to pre-season training last week and have already played their first friendly of the summer, comfortably dismissing Championship side Leeds United in Oslo.

Since then, Ten Hag has welcomed back a host of first-team players who missed the first week after taking part in international fixtures in June.

Two players were not part of the group returning later than normal and now, it is being reported that United are ready to cash in on the pair.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who say that centre-back Eric Bailly and left-back Alex Telles did not return to training.

As per the report, United view the two players as must-sells and they are not expected to be part of the travelling squad next week when United jet off to the United States for their pre-season tour.

Bailly and Telles both spent the 2022/23 season out on loan but Marseille and Sevilla respectively have not shown any interest in making their moves permanent.

Marseille, in particular, had the option of signing Bailly permanently but passed on the opportunity after another injury-plagued season for the Ivorian.
