‘We were calm’: Harry Kane rubs salt in United’s wounds with post-match comments on Bayern’s control

Harry Kane has rubbed salt in Manchester United’s wounds after the club bowed out of Europe in humiliating fashion following tonight’s loss to Bayern Munich.

The travelling Germans didn’t even need to get out of second gear in order to inflict damage on the home side, scoring just one goal across the night to cement United’s fourth-placed finish – meaning European football is now ruled out entirely – and cruise to a well-deserved victory.

In return, United had just one shot on target as they attempted to save face and do everything in their power, which turned out to be very little, to progress to the last-16, but with four points taken from six matches, they only have themselves to blame.

Kane reacts to Old Trafford victory

Kane, whose single assist now ranks him above most of United’s attackers in terms of goal contributions at Old Trafford, gave his assessment of the night’s affairs while speaking to TNT Sports.

“It was nice,” the England skipper began. “I felt like we controlled the game and had the better chances. We were calm, and we knew in the quick transitions we could hurt them.

“It was nice to get the win today.”
