Tom Lockyer was wowed by what he saw of Rasmus Hojlund on Sunday as Manchester United defeated his side 2-1.
The 21-year-old made Premier League history with his 36-second opener at Kenilworth Road, as he became the youngest-ever player to score in six consecutive matches.
It then took him just six minutes to add to his tally when he cleverly adjusted his body to send Alejandro Garnacho’s wayward shot on target – with his chest – and into the back of the net.
To say he waited 14 matches before opening his account in the top flight, he now looks like a seasoned professional. Hojlund is looking so clinical that every time he gets on the ball in a dangerous area, fans are expecting to see the net ripple.
Lockyer lauds United’s new Great Dane
Luton Town skipper Tom Lockyer, who is still taking some much-needed time away from football following his cardiac arrest, was on media duties for the clash and raved about United’s new starboy while reacting to Sunday’s affairs on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I look at him and I think he has got it all,” Lockyer said of Hojlund. “He is a good size, he is strong and now he is full of confidence after seven in six.
“There is something there, that’s why he’s at Man United, but that drought he had at the start of the season just showed the resilience to keep going and just believe in himself and back himself to go this is me, this is why I’m here.”
