Preview: A convincing turnaround is crucial as United face Forest in Saturday’s 3pm slot

Manchester United take on Nottingham Forest this Saturday, August 26 in a 3pm kick-off at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils kickstarted their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last Monday, followed by a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Both performances were far from the standard Erik ten Hag would expect of his squad.

This weekend provides a chance for a quick turnaround though, and United are undoubtedly the major favourites heading into the clash.

Rasmus Hojlund is in line to make his official debut for the club with an off-the-bench cameo, which comes as a major boost to the manager, however, he has been dealt a significant blow in the form of Mason Mount sustaining an injury. The midfielder faces a four-to-six-week spell on the sidelines.

United currently boast a 30-game unbeaten streak on home soil, so they must avoid defeat to keep the impressive feat going.

How Forest fare heading into the clash

A reunion with former Red and Carrington graduate Anthony Elanga is on the cards, as he left Old Trafford for the City Ground in July and has since contributed one assist in his new colours.

Forest sustained a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates on opening day but overturned Sheffield United 2-1 at home last Friday.

They recently bolstered their squad with the addition of World Cup-winning defender Gonzalo Montiel from Sevilla, who will be well-acquainted with Lisandro Martinez as they lifted the trophy together in Qatar last year. He could make his debut at the weekend.
